John Martyn Memorial School holds inter-House Rangoli competition to celebrate Onam
The front yard of John Martyn Memorial School turned out very colourful this morning. Rangolis using fresh flowers were made by the students on the occasion of the Inter-House Rangoli competition. The students of the four Houses – Jal, Agni, Prithvi and Surya, collected and brought along bagfuls of fresh flowers. Bougenvillae, marigolds, shoe flowers, periwinkles and all the wild flowers around the nearby villages found their way to the school ground this morning.
Being a charitable school for the under-privileged children, the school has various programs to increase national awareness and create a sense of global citizenship. So the school makes it a point to celebrate all major festivals. Onam, being the harvest festival of Kerala, during this season, Keralites make Pookkalams to welcome their erstwhile beloved king Mahabali, The parents, guests and the village community appreciated the creativity of the children.
