Onam Celebrations and Rangoli Competion at JMMS

Bringing the cultural diversity of our motherland India to the  village children is part of the work culture in John Martyn Memorial School. Under-privileged children from 23 neighbourhoods, children who rarely travel outside their own villages, got  a chance to celebrate Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala. In the morning assembly, information was given regarding how during the Onam season,  the whole state, irrespective of the religions, welcomes their ex-emperor Mahabali  on his annual visit.  In the traditional  style, the children  of the four houses, Jal, Prithvi, Agni, soorya   decorated the school’s front yard with fresh   flowers. Thus  festival of Onam was turned into an  occasion for Inter-house Rangoli competition.
